La Grand Vitesse

"La Grande Vitesse"  is a sculpture created by Alexander Cadler in 1969 and it is located in front of the city hall in Grand Rapids, Michigan USA. It is painted steel in Calders signiature red standing 43ft tall by 54ft long, and 30ft wide, it is a sculpture that does truly take your breath away. The title is french for "the great sweetness" or "grand rapids". From its name you get a better sense in what he was trying to get out of the form of the sculpture.

Thank you,
Gavin Taylor
