This is an ad done by Roy Lichtenstein from 1987 for a dish detergent.
His style is pop art and cartoonish, and his common theme in a lot of his art work is a romance story where the female is crying for one reason or another. I believe his artwork is quite comical and that is why he produces a comic book type look. The spots on the glass also poke fun at Lichtenstein's individual style. Due to the fact that he uses tiny individual dots to make up his artwork, the glass exaggerates that and is supposed to be dirty. I thought this was clever for an advertisement because at first glance is does not look like something for a dish washer detergent, yet works well because it truly captures the audiences attention.
